OTHER PASSAGES WHICH BEAR 'FRUIT'
It is the Spirit giving you the character of Christ. There are other such lists in the Epistles, and they are also relevant to any talk about the 'fruit of the Spirit'

In the midst of Paul's description of the gifts of the Spirit, there is a section on love. While not directly about 'fruit', it is about what springs from love, and it is in much the same vein. 1Corinthian's 13:3-8

1Corinthians 13:3   And though I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor], and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profited me nothing. 
1Corinthians 13:4   Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 
1Corinthians 13:5   Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 
1Corinthians 13:6   Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 
1Corinthians 13:7   Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 
1Corinthians 13:8   Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Philippians 4:8   Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Colossians 3:12-16, the church members are told to put on (wear) these things

Colossians 3:12   Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 
Colossians 3:13   Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye. 
Colossians 3:14   And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 
Colossians 3:15   And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 
Colossians 3:16   Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Paul gives us the list of the gifts...

1Corinthians 12:4   Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1Corinthians 12:6   And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 
1Corinthians 12:7   But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.                                     1Corinthians12:8   For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 
1Corinthians12:9   To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 
1Corinthians 12:10   To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 
1Corinthians 12:11   But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
